Tropical Storm Isaac pestañas Cuba, con las llaves de la Florida en la mira

LA HABANA (AP) _ La tormenta tropical Isaac azotó Cuba el sábado después de su paso por Haití donde dejó tres muertos, en tanto siguió rumbo a la Florida donde se declaró el estado de emergencia porque podría llegar como huracán, según las autoridades.
Isaac ingresó en la mañana a Cuba a unos 45 kilómetros al oeste-suroeste de Punta de Maisi, extremo oriental de la provincia de Guantánamo, y a más de 900 kilómetros al este de La Habana, informó José Rubiera, del Instituto de Meteorología de Cuba, a la televisión cubana.
Se registraron olas de hasta seis metros, marejadas e inundaciones costeras, en la ciudad oriental de Baracoa, en la cual el Malecón se veía totalmente inundado, según imágenes de la televisión cubana que transmitió desde las siete de la mañana del sábado un programa informativo especial con motivo del paso de la tormenta por la isla.

Tropical Storm Isaac lashes Cuba, with Florida Keys in sights

HAVANA (AP) _ Tropical Storm Isaac hit Cuba on Saturday after passing through Haiti which killed three people, while heading to Florida followed that declared the state of emergency that might come as a hurricane, according to authorities.

The Weather Channel Severe Weather Expert Dr. Greg Forbes says Isaac could bring flooding rain and a chance of tornadoes to Florida.

Final preparations: Tampa residents were making final preparations for the arrival of Tropical Storm Issac by filling sandbags at a Hillsborough County Public Works Service Center; the storm hit Haiti earlier today and is headed for Florida

Isaac was blamed for four deaths in Haiti.

The death toll in Haiti from the storm has risen to seven. One being a little 10 year old girl when a wall fell in her house and killing her.

Isaac drew new strength early Sunday during a warm-water crossing of the Florida Straits after causing weekend havoc in Cuba, where it downed trees and power lines.

Key West urges evacuations.

Key West and Marathon Airports Closed 8/26/12.

Miami Interntional cancelling flights.

Leigh County, thousands without power.

A small number of South Floridians - more than 8,000 customers - are already without power in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties.

Orlando Airports advises to call regarding flights.

Florida Power Outages in Miami Dade and Monroe Counties.

All public transportation in Miami stopped at noon today, 8/26/12.

After 2004 Hurricane Charly

Tampa did not get a direct hit but as it crossed over,

the water in the lake rose, we had some downed branches, some fences torn off, lots of wind and horizontal rain with the sky greying with each hour that passed.
